SMETHWICK SWIMMING CENTRE - MARCH 2009 REPORT
Present: Tina, Kris, Louise and staff member Gemma.
Members of Gho.S.T. spent a couple of hours investigating this fascinating property.
Within minutes of arriving in the area a member of staff reported having his t-shirt pulled from behind while walking down a corridor.
Later, while Tina and Kris were setting up the camcorders we all heard an object, possibly a small stone, being thrown across the old ‘morgue’ and seconds later heard a similar noise in the adjoining old ‘air-raid shelter’. We left cameras filming in these areas and held a vigil in the old ‘medical room’ where Kris picked up an unkempt gentleman. We also heard a man’s voice in the corridor at that time.
We held a further vigil back in the ‘air raid shelter’ where Tina spotted a bright light shoot across the back of the room and Kris was made aware of a presence moving up close to him. He picked up the name Joseph Simmons or Simms and he was rather ‘authorative’ in manner.
Tina and Louise then had a walk around the corridors and heard a loud cough coming from an empty area. On investigation it appears that no one was around at that time. Louise also strongly felt they were being followed during their walkabout, especially in one area of the cellar.
Kris also picked up several spirits the corridors, including a short, black gentleman wearing a uniform (possibly Joseph from before) and what appeared to be a large animal in the corridors. He also got the image of men moving heavy items about in the corridors and, on checking, Gemma reported concerts and ballroom dancing took place there in the past and fittings and equipment etc. were stored in the basement in the past. Could this be what Kris picked up? Tina also picked up the image of men playing football in the corridors.
‘Shuffling’ footsteps moving along the corridors were heard on several occasions during the evening by all members present.
This is a great place and to investigate and we highly recommend it. We had a brilliant time and we look forward to returning. We send a big thank you all concerned at SSC for their fantastic hospitality.
