DERBY GAOL - NOVEMBER 2008
CHECK OUT OUR SCARY PIC AT BOTTOM OF PAGE. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED!!!
GhostlySightings spent a night at Derby Gaol with members of Astralsearch.
Pat and Toni heard footsteps and a whistling sound and Tina saw a female walking up the corridor by the kitchen area during Paul the curators talk. On later checking it was confirmed that a female had been seen in this area earlier in the day.
We held a group seance circle to build up the energies in the Gaol. Toni experienced strange smells, feeling cold and a figure walking past her during this seance.
Tina and Kris experienced feeling cold, and a figure walking around and looking into the faces of people in the circle. Kris felt someone behind him in the museum area and Louise experienced an overwhelming feeling of nausea.
A séance using the glass and table revealed nothing in the Condemned Cell so we moved on to the Debtors Cell where Tina picked up gentleman. The man talked about going to the top of the building and that it was painted blue at one time and mentioned seaweed. All this information proved invaluable evidence during a later séance.
A séance in the main corridor resulted in some movement of the glass on the table. We glass moved towards Pat on two occasions. We felt drawn to the rest area opposite the kitchen so decided to move the séance into there.
During two further table séances in this area Tina got the name John. He then told her about a building with turrets and painted a whitish colour. John also mentioned sinking and a building with red corrugated roof. John then described some iron work fencing or gates with dogs on them. The dogs were skeletal with very prominent ribs. Kris picked up a man called Jeremy with a black beard and hair. He said he was like Captain Birdseye. He also felt he had been beheaded. Toni picked up the name Jeremiah during the seance.
Paul later confirmed that such a building with turrets does exist close to the gaol and that it is close proximity to where we were. He named it as Vernongate and confirmed that a building with blue walls and a red corrugated roof used to be there but has since been demolished. He said the blue building was called the Last Drop which Tina thought could be why she had that sinking feeling during the séance. He also confirmed that the building was later used for greyhound racing so that would be the reason why Tina saw the skeletal dog shapes on the ironwork fencing.
We later discovered by team members Toni and Louise that a man was excuted at Vernongate named Jeremiah Brandreth, alias John Cole, alias the Nottingham Captain. The team feel this is who Tina and Kris picked up and where the seaweed reference came in.
